So many Ontario businesses are working to help flatten the curve, and help communities across the province in new innovative ways. Vankleek Hill’s Beau’s Brewery and Dunrobin Distilleries have teamed up to turn unused beer into “extra-strength” hand sanitizer. Using distilling equipment provided by the yet to open Dunrobin Distillery, Beau’s will distill kegs of beer that were destined for restaurants and bars, but can no longer be sold. The process will turn the beer into pure alcohol, which can then be mixed with other ingredients to make an effective hand sanitizer.

“We didn’t want to be idle victims of the pandemic, so we took action,” Steve Beauchesne, CEO of Beau’s Brewery said. “By partnering with Dunrobin to produce hand sanitizer, Beau’s becomes a meaningful part of the fight against COVID-19, and our recovery from it. We know that wherever this sanitizer goes, it will make a real difference in the health outcomes in those communities.”
The finished product will be packaged in 3L bottles and provided to front-line healthcare workers and essential businesses, contributing to the safety of all Ontarians. A portion will also be provided to not-for-profits or other groups that care for vulnerable sectors of Ontario communities.
“We understand the importance of the situation and the unique opportunity available to us by being one of the few companies able to produce a hand-sanitizer,” says Dunrobin Co-Founder Adrian Spitzer. “Only through this partnership with Beau’s were we able to pivot so quickly. They had the resources and the facility to help increase production and accelerate our processes. We are motivated to help ‘flatten the curve’ and have confidence that our efforts will result in a healthier Canada.”
Ontario businesses have stepped up to the plate in a big way!
