1847 Stone Milling started with the idea of delivering fresh, organic flour to Canadians coast-to-coast. 1847 Stone Milling was founded in 2014 in the small town of Fergus, Ontario by family members Sasha, Melissa, and Trevor when we restored a heritage barn on our family farm and imported an Austrian grist mill. As farmers they know the importance of the food they grow.
We are proud to be able to help feed our community and our country with our crops. Over the past several years, the business has continued to expand to provide our customers with a broader selection of specialty grains. We believe that if we source the highest quality Canadian grains and mill them as fresh as possible, the outcome is flour that you are proud to bake with.
1847 Stone Milling provides 12 types of flour through the Green Circle Food Hub – including unique varieties Red Fife and Rye. For those who bake regularly, they also offer subscriptions directly through their website.
Not every flour starts with planting a tree, but thanks to their 100% solar powered mill, 1847 is doing just that. The carbon offset from their solar power alone is equivalent to planting 2 trees every day: by the end of the year that is equivalent to saving 40 acres of Canadian forest!
