The sun is out and summer is finally upon us! With Toronto having entered Phase 2 of the reopening stage, a number of patios have opened up as well throughout the city. And we’ve got the rundown on some of the best patios to visit right now to enjoy an amazing meal.
While we’re all taking the time to soak in those warm rays, it’s important to keep in mind that we’re not out of the COVID-19 woods yet. Wearing masks, social distancing and not overcrowding are still advised for all residents. Or as we like to say, having fun in a safe way. ; )
Just a quick note that these are not ranked in any particular order, as they are all truly amazing in their own way. Please also note that although not compensated by any of them for includind them and indepednently selected by our editors, we may in some cases have been provided with a complimentary experience, but assure that we have kept our perspective and comments as unbiased as possible. Cheers!
Phase 2 Approved: Top 6 Patios Now Open in Toronto
Stay tuned for our full list of all patios in the GTA now open for phase 2 of COVID-19.
116 Yorkville Ave. (Yorkville)
The tree-lined patio is spacious and spans across Hazelton Ave. and Yorkville Ave. ONE Restaurant will open for lunch and dinner during the week and brunch at the weekend. Dine al-fresco in the heart of Yorkville (a much COVETED patio in Yorkville, so definitely call ahead for a reservation–and cherish it).
11 Polson St. (The Docks)
Enjoy your meal by the pool by checking out the Cabana Waterfront Patio. Having quickly pivoted from their Pool Bar format and reopened as Toronto’s Biggest Waterfront Patio for the summer, customers can try the new menu from Oliver & Bonacini while taking in different waterfront views.
485 King St. W. (King West)
You may remember this beauty from our coverage of their opening last year… and lets just say COVID hasn’t hit it too bad. It’s still bumpin’, with epic eats, and an excellent vibe–within the guidelines though. We even caught wind that some of Drake’s crew was seen dropping by late night on their opening night last week. So it’s definitely going to be a hotspot this summer.
Must try: Their newly added bbq chicken legs… think of it as a larger portion of chicken wings… without the hassle, but equaly as delish (and super juicy). But then again… we guarantee you won’t be able to have just one thing, and chef Steve Gonzalez has loadssss of option for you to choose from.
161 Bay St. (Financial District)
The Chotto-Matte much anticipated 3000-sqft patio is now open and we just cannot contain ourselves. If you’re familiar with their incredibly delicious fusion eats, that marry Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, referred to as Nikkei, then you know this will definitely quickly become one of THE places to be. Luckily, for the sake of lines… there is plenty of space to accommodate the demand. Boasting a 130 seats, while still safely ensuring social distancing and the sanitization standards… and with an epic view of the CN Tower, I might add… oh ya, and let’s not forget their over 200 exotic plants… need we say more? Book your table via their website today.
Fairmont Royal York, 100 Front St. (Entertainment District)
Talk about a quick pivot, the Toronto landmark, Fairmont Royal York never ceases to impress. Partnered once again with Frank Rea of Forget Me Not Décor on the design, their new CLOCKWORK Terrace is nothing less than stunning. You may remember Frank Rea from their previous lobby activations, such as their Easter Egg or their Festive Front Street Windows last Holiday Season. The CLOCKWORK Terrace is open daily, 12-8PM, with reservations strongly encouraged, but not required. Featuring champagne and cocktail classics, such as their ‘Meet Me At The Clock’ cocktail (by their well known Director of Mixology, Rus Yessenov) and with fresh East Coast Oysters will be on the menu. If that doesn’t sound like a great VIBE, we don’t know what is!
488 Wellington St W (King West)
While still on the west end part of town, this hidden gem still ceases to amaze us. They seem to have organically married.. their laid back environment with the much needed vigilance and care for sanitization with out being overbearing. Beautifully lit up after dawn, this patio is nothing less than stunning and their food does not disappoint. Whether just enjoying some fresh Oysters, a delicious perfectly cooked (AND seasoned) sirloin steak… or their highly regarded, somewhat famous, John’s Burger, we know you won’t leave unsatisfied.
Notable Mention: St. Louis Bar & Grill
All across Ontario
If there is anything St. Louis Bar & Grill locations are known for its 1, their incredible wings, and 2, their MASSIVE patios that are always highly coveted on a hot summer day. I mean, these things are BEASTS. Equipped with cooling mist posts, loads of seating area, and super speedy service. But one thing we noticed when visiting recently, was their attention to detail. Lets just say management did not take likely the preparations for re-opening. Something tells us they were prepared… to say the least. Having servers very clearly use visual cues to demonstrate that they are regularly cleaning and sanitizing their hands. Going over a quick blurb about their new practices on arrival, a spray down of hand sanitizer, and introduction to their “Chief Sanitization Officer” on duty. Oh which they would also be in charge of cleaning up and dirty plates, etc. This chain is definitely worth considering for your next visit, especially because they have an extensive list of locations right across Ontario.
Please remember wear a mask when possible, be safe, practice social distancing, DO NOT go out if you are feeling sick, any symptoms, or have possibly been exposed to anyone who has. Enjoy, and always drink responsibly.
